Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury is an upcoming professional boxing fight which will take place on December 1, 2018 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Defending WBC heavyweight championDeontay Wilder will face challenger and former WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, IBO, The Ring, and lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
We've known for a few days that the fight would take place on December 1, but the location was revealed on Tuesday evening. The Staples Center has become a major venue for the sweet science dating back to 2000 when Oscar De La Hoya vs. Shane Mosley fought in one of the biggest fights of that year.
This is easily the biggest heavyweight bout at the venue since Lennox Lewis took on Vitali Klitschko in 2003. The total revenue for the fight hasn't been determined at this point, but Fury's promoter Frank Warren made it clear there would be a 50/50 split for Wilder and Fury.
This fight came about after Wilder and WBA, IBF and WBO champion Anthony Joshua were unable to come to an agreement on a unification bout. The early odds for this fight favor Wilder. Per youwager.eu, Wilder is a -190 favorite and Fury is a +160 underdog.
The winner of the fight could still challenge Joshua on April 13 in a unification scrap, but as we've learned, negotiations don't always go smoothly. As more information becomes available for the fight, look out for extended coverage on this heavyweight championship clash.
